My 2009 Recap

As this year concludes itself, I think about every thing that has transpired over this year. Happy times and sad times in all. Ones that have directly included me and ones I simply looked at from the outside. Things I have picked up and things I have dropped. As I being this recap I will start in Jan.

January 2009.

-My sis and I were in a minor fender bender. As she put it, we started the year off with a BANG!, literally. Lol.

-President Barack Obama was inaugurated into office.

-Broke my 2nd digital camera (whomp).

February 2009.

-Watching the Grammy Red Carpet Pre-show I learned Chris Brown and Rihanna were allegedly in an altercation with each other. As the show continued I learned that Chris Brown had turned him self in to the police.

-I joined twitter. My first tweet was something along the lines of reciting the lyrics to Rihanna -Rehab. I didn't tweet on it again for another 3-4 weeks.

March 2009.

-After running across one of my youtube videos where I did a review on her book author, Monica McKayhan asked would I like to write reviews of teen books off Kimani Tru publishing for her newsletter. I accepted first beginning to write reviews for her new and upcoming books.

April 2009.

-The 16th of April to be exact I turned 15. Celebrated with going bowling with some friends and family. Had fun. Oh and I received my third digital camera in a year. (sad I know)

May 2009.

-Celebrated my sis and my grandmother's birthday.

-Got Chrisette Michele's album Epiphany and fell in love with it!!

June 2009.

-Took finals and began my Summer Break '09.

-Hurt my wrist playing tennis the Saturday tennis practiced actually started.

-Switched to a different park for my tennis lessons.

-Considered quitting tennis. Decided against it.

-Began using twitter heavily. Also watching people on Blogtv.

-Recognized my slight love of writing as a technique to express my feelings.

-Tragedy struck when King of Pop Michael Jackson died. Also Farrah Fawcett died the same day.

July 2009.

-Partially watched the televised funeral of MJ.

-Along with some other fans of Broadway, I created a fan twitter for him. Then eventually a fan Youtube, while others created a fan Myspace.

-Shared two of my poems on Phatfffat Idol.

-I declared some of the ppl on twitter apart of my twitfam.

-Went to see "This Is It." Came to the conclusion that MJ's concert was gonna be bomb.

-Slowly began allowing myself to open up to different types of music.

August 2009.

-Went to tournaments for tennis. Didn't really want to be there considering I felt as is I hadn't improved much. Anyway I lost. Moving along. Had the end of the year picnic. It was fun. We had the huge water fight. We accomplished to drench the head coach in water.

-My family accomplished to throw a surprise picnic party for my mother. She loved it and was truly surprised. She was amazed how we kept the truth from her because usually she would figure out we were up to something.

-Went to see "I Can Do Bad All By Myself." Loved that movie cried during the whole thing.

September 2009.

-Got Trey Songz- Ready album and fell in love with it. It was such a good CD; not a track on there I didn't like.

-Returned to school for my 10th grade year.

October 2009.

-My second older sister moved out the house. Didn't like that very much in some ways because she was the one I always went to talk to. And we had some crazy moments and insiders. Still miss her but I have accepted it, I guess. I'm still waiting for he to get done with my room at her house. Lol.

-Realized Geometry and Biology won't be as easy as I had anticipated. Got to work harder!

-Halloween. Took my lil sis and her friend trick or treating. And yes I was a big kid and dressed up too.

November 2009.

-Saw my highly anticipated movie "New Moon." Loved it!!! Also saw "Precious." I was a good movie, but very sad.

-My cousins came into town for Thanksgiving. Had fun them. Went to the Thanksgiving Parade as always. Cheered for my school as the Marching Band marched in the parade.

December 2009.

-Took finals and got out for Christmas Break.

-Went to my friends Sweet 16 where she did it up. We named the Limo driver Mr. Gorgeous Limo Driver Guy aka Robert. Lol.

-Mac gave me some advice I will forever hold and never forget.

-Spent Christmas Eve cooking and wrapping gifts. Trying to multi task making tacos, baking cookies, and bake a cake I burnt some of the cookies. Stopped. Waited. Started over. Put cookies and juice out for Santa (hehe. Ima sucha big kid). Watched A Christmas Story marathon.

-Woke up Christmas morning and opened up my presents. Enjoyed watching as my family opened my gifts to them. My other family came over and we ate a bomb dinner. Opened more gifts and went to sleep.

-Read 250 pg books in 3 days. Then ready a 800 book in 2 1/2 days.

So that is my 2009 Recap. Nothing too exciting happened but overall it was a good year. I thank you all, who have made my year a good one. People I know personally and people I don't, thank you all. As I leave 2009 I hope and wish you will make 2010 a better year then 2009. I Love y'all, continue on with your success as I will do the same.

Poetry, One of my many loves.

Okay, so for English I had to write a poem that models Alice Walker's For My Sister, Who In The Fifties. I wrote mine about my grandmother.

For My Grandmother, Who Not Too Long Ago
By: Asha Shaw

For my grandmother, who not too long ago
Gave us kisses that made us smile
Because her grandma touch went on for miles
Who disciplined us, taught us right from wrong
And if we messed up mama or daddy was on the phone
Who was a black woman, strong from the bone
Who played fairytale with us and acted as a queen on her throne
Who with my mother, owned Things Galore
Who told her grandchildren they could soar
Soar high, high up to the sky
She said that is your only limit and never to lie

For my grandmother, who not too long ago
Got sick to the bone
Unable to sit on her throne
Who now slept in a hospital bed
I’d come in and kiss her on her head
Who was the one I cried for everyday
Hoping and wishing she would never go away
Who sat in that bed with a smile on her face
She told us “Don’t worry everything is gonna be okay”
Who was the one I wanted to believe everyday
But I always felt that she might not be there the next day

For my grandmother, who on January 28, 2002
Lost her battle
Who told me she would always be here
And to always keep the necklace she gave me near
Who was the one I never thought would betray
Crazy thing is she left me the next day
Who I cried and cried hoping she would come back
But In reality I didn’t get jack

For my grandmother
Who I love, miss dearly
And many times wish I could have said goodbye

My Poems: You! and One More Day

If you were in attendance at Phatfffat Idol I recited a poem. It is below. Also I'm uploading my poem I read on Phatfffat Idol entitledsOne More Day.

You:
By: Asha S.

As I sit here
You are on my mind
I don't know you knew this
But I used to think about you all the time
Those Days we spent together
Making memories
That would last forever.

Wondering why we didn't work out
I know it takes TWO people to make a relationship work
And I did everything I could do
So why was I the one that ended up hurt?

It took me a year to get over you
The times I needed to talk to you
You were over there calling some other girl boo
In my mind I wanted to forgive you
But in my heart I knew
If I forgave you
You would always think it was okay to call her boo

And I did everything I could do
To hold myself from breaking up with you
And I didn't wanna be the one that ended up hurt
So I had to let you go first.

Now, it's a year later
I'm bigger, I'm better
And yes I still love you
BUT I am no longer IN love with you

One More Day
By: Asha S.

I WISH I HAD ONE MORE DAY TO LIVE WITH U.
ONE MORE NIGHT I COULD SPEND WITH U.
I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SAY GOODBYE TO U.
I JUST WANT TO LET U KNOW THAT I LOVE U.

I DIDN'T KNOW U FOR THAT LONG( 8 YRS)
THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN U WERE GONE.
I CRIED N CRIED FOR U TO COME BACK
BUT I DID NOT GET JACK.

I WONDER WHAT SHOULDA OR WHAT COULDA BEEN
STAYING OUT ON THE PORCH TO TEN
LAUGHING N FIGHTING WITH THE BIG SIS
KNOWING THAT I WOULD MISS

I WOULD MISS THE THINGS U DO
THOSE HURTFUL NIGHTS I LIVED WITHOUT U
YOUR GRANDMA TOUCH GAVE ME A SMILE
AND KISSES WENT ON FOR A MILE

I LOVE U GRANDMA!!!

I DIDN'T GET TO SAY GOODBYE THAT NIGHT U PASSED SO I WILL SAY IT NOW

GOODBYE GRANDMA!! LOVE U!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way: This is straight for facebook..and i didn't edit anything..sry

Forgiveness

About my whole blog has been about other people. And that is fine but as I told you before I will also talk about things that catch my attention. And this has been on my mind for the last week or so. I have finally decided to express myself in my blog.

Think about this: They saying goes "Forgive and Forget," correct? But what if we forget to forgive? And to make things worse the person you wanted to forgive is no longer here. And now you have to live with regret because you waited one day to long to ask that person for forgiveness. I say this to say, hanging on to grudges is basically stupid. I know that forgiveness is the hardest thing to do. But would you rather push through and forgive that person or would you like to live with regret because you weren't able to forgive that person? I can understand if you are mad for a couple a days, maybe a week or two, but months and years. I think its just to long because that moment you find out that person is no longer here you would have wished you could have told that person that you forgave them. So basically I am saying forgive and forget but DO NOT forget to forgive.

Chris Brown's Mother Speaks Out

Joyce Hawkins, Chris Brown's mother was not allowed to speak on the situation her son is in until after the sentencing. Wednesday she released this statement.
I just want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you for your continued support. I’m sorry I wasn’t allowed to speak to anyone as this case was on going. I can now say this has been the most painful moment in my entire life, but knowing that you were still standing by Chris side in his time of need made this a little easier for us. Because of all your prayers God brought him through. I just want to say God has never failed me and never will. All moms and dads please stand by your children and pray for their goodness each and everyday. Chris and I love you so much, as the tears fall from my eyes and the pain lingers in my heart I still say thank you God, thank you thank you almighty God. If any of you wonder why I continue to speak of God it’s because I know no other way. I made a promise to him I would never be ashamed of him no matter where I am or who I talk to. You see this whole thing isn’t about Chris it’s about God. He wants to show all of you the goodness of him through Chris. Chris will be addressing all of his fans very soon. We love you so much and so does God. ”

Thank you.

Chris Brown: The Update

Tuesday, August 25, Chris Brown was sentenced to 5 years probation, 6 months on community service, and ordered to stay 50 yards away from Rihanna except for at industry events, when the distance is reduced to 10 yards. Judge also made specific that for community service Chris Brown is required to do hard labor. Chris Brown and Rihanna are to have no contact, weather direct or indirect. If any of his terms are violated or broken Chris Brown will be sent to State Prison no questions asked. Also, Chris is currently taking anger management classes. All his sentencing agreements will be preformed in his home state of Virginia. So this is where I say He got what he deserved. If you make mistakes you have to live with the consequences. Also, Chris Brown will be on Larry King LIVE on CNN Wednesday, September 2 at 9pm EST. I knew that I would always be a Chris Brown fan, but if he wanted to gain the trust back from the fans that he lost he would have to address it publicly. Anf You and I both know that Larry King will ask the hard questions. So stay tuned to see my response after that interview. But take a look at the pic to the left. Chris Brown is sporting a Dee & Ricky yellow Lego Heart. I talked about the the Lego broaches in my last post about Tristan Wilds. Anyway, what does this mean or signify. I think I'm getting that Chris Brown is saying his heart is in the right place and he just wants to be forgiven. I don't know but that's a guess. Also Chris Brown went partying after his sentencing in the outfit with the heart. Some people say how can you party at a time like this. You just was sentenced to this and that. But I can understand how he did it. Think about it, he finally got everything settled, he is not going to jail if he does everything correctly, and soon people will remember that they fell in love with Chris for his music. His next obstacle might be Larry King but after that he can return to his music. So I say let him party he has been laying low for the last 6 months. Let Chris take his spot back in the game its crunch time and he can't lose. I believe he has and/or still learning his lesson. And he now knows that every action will have a consequence.

Rising Actor Tristan Wilds;Follow Him @TristanWilds

Tristan Wilds is one of many rising young actors. He currently stars as Dixon on the CW hit 90210. He also played Michael on The Wire. The first time I saw Tristan, he portrayed Zach Taylor in The Secret Life of Bees. At that point I didn't who he was but,I did know I had to figure out who he was. He did an excellent job in that movie. Something you may not know about Tristan is that he is a sneaker fanatic. He also sings and raps. So he is a multi-talented person. And in the pic to the right he is rocking a Dee and Rick Lego bowtie at hr Nylon party. I think its too cute. Also y'all he is one of my celeb crushes..hehe.

Aaliyah was One In a Million

August 25, 2001 we lost our angel, Aaliyah. But lets not focus on the bad instead lets focus on the good. There is always a reason one has to leave even though we may not understand it. But Aaliyah left us with this great music. Some of my favorite Aaliyah songs include "More Than a Women," "One In a Million," (Video Below), "Read Between the Lines," "Erica Kane" and so much more. So for the rest of the day honor Aaliyah by enjoying the music she put out. She may be gone but she will never be forgotten. A true angel on Earth she was. We Miss you Aaliyah. May you Rest in Peace. *kisses*

Rising Icon Chrisette Michele; Follow Her on Twitter: @EpiphanyGirl

Chrisette Michele is more than a rising icon. She is inspiration to not only me but to a whole world of people. When her first album "I Am" came out back in 2007 I was hooked. Her voice is like none others. It's very unique. And Her songs have so much more to it than a beat, they have a meaning. For example the song "My Joy" off of the album "I Am," talks about her relationship with her father. I can relate to that song. It is one of my favorite songs. Period. Then she blew me away once again with "Epiphany." I LOVE that CD. My favorite song is "Blame It On Me," because so many people can relate. Also I love the relationship that Chrisette has with her fans. For example through her twitter she tries to respond to as many people as possible. She has the Top Ten in 10, which talks about a specific subject and she Retweets the top ten replys. I remember when I made #1 Top ten in 10. Chrisette is so down to earth. It lets you know that there is no difference between you and her. So I will forever be a Chrisette Michele fan. Ow!. Oh and I created the edited the picture to your right with Photoshop and Picnik.

She posted this quote from her today on her twitter and I love it:
My only competition is my right foot against my left

Bow Wow Signs to Cash Money ; Plus Omarion: "I Was Not Dropped from Young Money"

Sunday night Bow Wow released via twitter that he is signed to Cash Money Records. Congrats to him. But I'm wondering why he went to Cash Money. Maybe because this is his supposedly last album and he wanted to do what ev. Or maybe because Cash Money is the hot thing right now. I don't know but those are a few suggestions. Also Bow Wow has released he has a lot of regret via his new song titled "Regret." Things he wish he could done, things he wish he didn't do, etc. "Regret" seems like another cry for help. A young dude that wants to do what ever he wants but can't because he has a life-time sentence named "The Price of Fame," and the biggest price of fame is there is NO privacy. Bow Wow has expressed the way he feels locked up in his Fame. So are these just multiple cries for help or attention? Because Soulja Boy expressed via his twitter that sometimes he just want to go back and be a regular dude making music. I now wonder "What is the "REAL" price of fame?"

So, it was said Omarion was dropped from Young Money, three months after he signed to them. Mack Maine released a tweet via twitter saying Omarion is no longer with Young Money. Omarion released a statement addressing the rumors. The statement is below:

"I have a lot of respect and admiration for the genius of Lil ‘Wayne and the entire Young Money family. I asked to be released from the label to pursue other opportunities that were recently presented to me. Because of our relationship, Lil’ Wayne had no issue with us ending our business relationship and released me from the label. Lil’ Wayne and I have nothing but love for each other, there is no Beef. I also wanted to make it clear that my company nor did I, leak the song, “I Get It In” and I want to dispel any rumors that have surfaced. I appreciate my relationship with Young Money/ Cash Money and look forward to doing business in the future.

There will be a major announcement regarding my career and my new album, “Ollusion” coming next week. Stay tuned…"

Am I the only one who wants to know why did Omarion sign to Young Money in the first place. I mean that is a label full of rappers and Omarion is a singer. Just wanna know. Anyway good luck to both Bow Wow and Omarion.

Season Premiere of Project Runway; Plus new show Models of the Runway

I'm wondering why didn't anybody tell that the season premiere of Project runway was TONIGHT. This is one of my favorite shows and I knew they were moving from the Bravo network but I didn't know where the show was moving to. So i searched the net and found that is moved to Lifetime Network and the season starts today. Lucky me, right. Anyway Project Runway premieres August 20-TONIGHT on Lifetime network 10pm ET/PT.

And another thing I didn't know they were starting a show "Models of the Runway" in the view of the models that also have a competition on Project Runway (competing models pictured above). Many may not know this but the model paired with the winning designer wins the modeling part of the competition. So this new show series premiere is August 20- TONIGHT 11pm ET/PT on the Lifetime Network right after Project Runway.

I can't wait to see both of these shows. Hope you will be there watching them with me.

Is Chris Brown a "Changed Man"...?

Is Chris Brown a Changed Man? Well, that's what he is saying in his new song titled "Changed Man." This song sounds like a direct apology Rihanna. In it he says "I'm a show the world I'm a changed man," and "Im doing all I can and everybody hates Chris." Sounds like Chris just wants to be accepted once again. I believe in time he will be accepted but it is gonna take a little time for some people to accept what he did. Even after all the sorry and apologies he can give. And everything he did was wrong, yes, we know but I think in a time of struggle people need supporters. Not someone that is telling them what they did was right, but telling them that they were wrong but we all make mistakes, it's your job to learn from them. I hope Chris has learned from his mistakes. I will always be a huge supporter of Chris. I just hope other people can be like me and acknowledge the bad, but look further into the good and continue support Chris. Also, this song is said to be the first single off Chris Brown's new album titled "Graffiti."

Kourtney and Khloe

I am a little late with this post because I missed the premiere of Kourtney and Khloe Taking Miami on Sunday. Had to catch it Monday night and I thought it was pretty cool. I watched Keeping Up with the Kardashians, so this might keep my attention. But let's talk about the first episode. I personally didn't like the way Kim acted towards Khloe. Like she just ignored the fact that she had this new radio show and everything. But they way Kourtney made them realize they need each other was cool. But when Terrance J and Khloe kissed I was sooo shocked. I had heard about that kiss via twitter, I believe. Anyway let's talk about how they look in this pic. I think they both look fab...and I'm really liking Kourtney's shoes.

Hot Couple-Eva Marcille and Lance Gross

Well, I don't know if you knew, but I found out about two or three months ago via twitter that America's Next Top Model Cycle 3 winner (who is also and actress) Eva Marcille and Tyler Perry's House of Payne star (who is also a model) Lance Gross are engaged. I believe they got engaged after Lance popped the question in December of '08. Lance is so sweet sending messages via his twitter to Eva's twitter saying "have i told you ur beautiful lately :)." They have to be the cutest couple ever. Also lets talk some fashion in this pic. I couldn't help but notice that Lance has on the new Kayne West Louis Vuitton shoe gray and pink. And Eva's shoes are just darling. They both look great!

Rihanna -Fashion Rawks

Does Rihanna ever have a day when she doesn't look chic? Picture on the left is very chic. I love it the mixture of the print and leather! and the shoes are bomb.! And the pic to the right is just stunning. I love her hair. The dress is amazing and fits her just right. So in all Rihanna always looks FANTABULOUS (and yes that's my word..lol)

I Need a Girl -Remix Ft. Fabulous and Teyana Taylor

Teyana Taylor has been talking about doing a remix on Trey Songz "I Need A Girl" via twitter for about a month. Three weeks ago she finished her verse and sent it to Trey who wanted to add finishing touches. Fans had been asking Teyana where's the link to the "I Need a Girl Remix." So finally the track was released today via twitter. Trey sent a message to his Say Now and on his website (TreySongz.com) was the link to download it. Click this link to listen and/or download the remix---> I Need a Girl Remix -Trey Songz featuring Teyana Taylor and Fabulous.

I personally think it is hot. Teyana Taylor is the voice of the young right now. One of the very few female teen singer/rappers. Look out for her she is new and upcoming signed with N.E.R.D (No one Ever Really Dies) member/producer Pharell.

Youtube Sensation -Broadway

Okay so if you know me, you know that I LOVE Broadway. People ask why do I like him so much. And the reason is that you never really get to see signed artist while they were on the road to being signed. Think about it; Did you know Chris Brown or Soulja Boy and so on before they got signed. I know I didn't. I also support him because when your a fan of somebody you should support them to the best of your ability. And while he is on the road to becoming signed you as a fan should tell everybody him to help him create a bigger fan base. There are very few people that I can personally say that I was there from the start. I probably can only say that I was there from mid-point with Dondria, you may also know her a Phatfffat off of youtube. She is now signed with JD and her album is coming soon. But I remember listening to her videos on youtube. I found Broadway through her videos and I will be a long-time hardcore fan of both of them.

Kim Kardashian's New Look....

Okay so Kim Kardashian decided to change from her natural hair color which is black to blonde. She released the news via twitter saying "This time it’s for real, guys! I went blonde!!!" I personally like the black hair on her. Now don't get me wrong it's hard to make look Kim look bad. But I am just saying I like the black hair on her. What's you opinion?

I am an addict and Twitter is my drug

So I ♥ twitter. Lots of people think it's pointless. And that may be. But it's very fun. You have to get to know the people on there. I have connected with people that I might just be real cool with face to face. So in all its the best. Now, don't get me wrong i still love my Facebook. It let's me reconnect with people that I might have lost contact with. But twitter is a drug literally. Do they have twitter rehab? I might need it. I'm totally kidding, but join twitter you will not be disappointed. Well you won't if you follow me. I have the best tweets ever.

Don't forget to Follow Me On Twitter
